Privacy policy

How we use personal data when you visit this site or get in touch with us, when you ask us to check or watch your clients, and when you’re named in one of our leads or alerts.

Last updated: 1 November 2026

1. Who we are

AccountSignal is a trading name of Team Dimensions Ltd. Team Dimensions Ltd is the controller of the personal data this policy describes, which means we decide how it’s used. “We”, “us” and “our” mean Team Dimensions Ltd.

  • Registered in England and Wales, company number 08348964
  • Registered office: 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX
  • Email: hello@accountsignal.co.uk
  • Registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), number ZC238097

2. Details you give us

When you ask for sample leads, our form asks for your name, your practice, your work email address and the area you cover. You can also give us your phone number, tell us you’d like a short call, and ask us to check some of your clients. If you used the client list box on our homepage first, the form tells us how many companies you checked there, but never the list itself.

When you ask about a firm trial or about alerts in your own software, our form asks what you’d like, your name, your practice and your work email address. You can also give us your phone number and a message.

If you send us your client list, so that we can check or watch those companies for you and leave them out of your leads, we ask for company names or company numbers only, not the names of people. The client list box on our homepage works entirely in your browser: it never sends your list to us.

When you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything else you include.

3. How we use them

We use the details you give us to:

  • send you sample leads, and check the clients you asked us to check;
  • plan and quote for a trial or a subscription you ask about;
  • watch your clients for changes, and leave them out of the leads we send you;
  • answer your questions, talk to you about your sample and AccountSignal, and arrange a call if you asked for one; and
  • keep a record of what we’ve sent you and what we’ve agreed.

The law allows this because it’s in our legitimate interests, and yours, for us to answer your requests and follow them up. If you go ahead with a trial or a subscription, we also use your details to provide it, as part of our agreement with you. You can object at any time (section 10).

We won’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to, and we never sell your details or give them to anyone else for their own marketing.

4. When you visit the site

Hosting and security

Cloudflare hosts this site. To show you its pages and protect it from attacks, Cloudflare processes your IP address and the details your browser sends, such as its type and version.

Page statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see how quickly our pages load. It doesn’t use cookies or store anything on your device, and Cloudflare says it doesn’t collect or use visitors’ personal data.

Checking you’re a person

When you start filling in one of our forms, the page loads Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you’re a person rather than an automated program. To do this, Cloudflare looks at signals from your browser and connection, such as your IP address and browser details. Cloudflare uses them to run the check for us, and also, as a controller in its own right, to improve Turnstile. Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum explains more.

Apart from these Cloudflare services, our pages load nothing from other websites. Our fonts and images come from our own site.

5. Cookies

We don’t use cookies for statistics or advertising, and we don’t use any advertising or tracking tools. Cloudflare may set cookies that are strictly necessary to keep the site secure, such as cookies that help it spot bots; Cloudflare’s cookie policy lists them. These don’t need your consent, because they’re needed to keep the site secure.

6. People named in our leads and alerts

AccountSignal tells accountancy practices about companies that may need an accountant, for example companies that are behind with their filings, have outgrown the small-company limits or have a new owner. It also tells practices when something changes at a company that is already their client. Each lead or alert says what happened and who runs the company, so that the practice can get in touch with it.

Where the information comes from

We build leads and alerts from public records and companies’ own published information, including:

  • Companies House: companies, their officers and people with significant control, and their filings, including accounts, registered charges, share issues, notices and insolvency records; and
  • companies’ own websites, for their business contact details.

Who appears in a lead or alert

Mainly the people who run a company, in their professional role: its directors, its owners and people with significant control, with the company’s business contact details. A lead or alert can also mention a company’s shareholders, its accountant or auditor, or a new company a director has formed, where that explains what happened or who decides.

AccountSignal covers companies and LLPs registered at Companies House, and is only for contacting businesses. We never include anyone’s home address or personal phone number, even where a public record shows one.

Why the law allows it

We rely on legitimate interests: ours, and those of the accountancy practices we work with, in finding companies that may need accountancy services, keeping their records of their own clients up to date, and contacting companies in their business capacity. The information is already public or published by the company itself, we use only what a lead or alert needs, and we stop whenever someone objects.

Who receives it

Accountancy practices that use AccountSignal or ask us for samples. Our terms require them to keep leads confidential, to contact only the businesses a lead names, and to follow the law and their professional body’s rules when they make contact.

If you’re named in a lead or an alert, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or object to our using it (section 10). If you object, we’ll stop including you in leads and alerts, and keep a short record of your request so that we don’t include you again.

7. Who we share data with

We use these service providers, who act on our instructions:

  • Cloudflare, for website hosting and security, page statistics and the Turnstile check;
  • Postmark, which delivers the emails our site and service send, such as your request and our daily lead emails; and
  • the providers of our email and office software.

We may also share information with our professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, and with authorities where the law requires it. We don’t sell personal data.

8. Transfers outside the UK

Cloudflare and Postmark are based in the United States and may process personal data outside the UK. When they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement. Email us if you’d like details.

9. How long we keep data

  • Requests for sample leads, enquiries, and our emails with you: up to two years after we were last in touch, unless you become a customer.
  • Client lists you send us for a free check: deleted within 30 days of our sending you the results, unless you go on to subscribe.
  • Client lists you ask us to watch: until you stop using AccountSignal, or sooner if you ask.
  • Information in leads and alerts: only while it’s relevant. We update or remove it when the public record changes.
  • Requests not to be included in leads and alerts: for as long as we provide AccountSignal, so that we don’t include you again.
  • Cloudflare and Postmark keep their own technical records, such as security and email delivery logs, for limited periods.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct it if it’s wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete it, or to limit how we use it;
  • object to our using it, including for marketing, which we’ll always stop; and
  • in some cases, ask for your data in a form you can take elsewhere.

To use any of these rights, email us with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We’ll reply within one month, and there’s normally no charge.

11. Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve used your data, please tell us first, so that we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
